I began my training in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 1997. Since then I have worked as Therapist in a number of settings offering both short term therapy, and long term therapy. I have engaged in work in a variety of settings including University Services; for Staff and Students, the NHS; both as a Manager in Primary Care and managing Staff Services, and I have specialised to support families affected by sexual abuse. I have supervised NHS Counsellors across North Yorkshire and within North Yorkshire County Council. Latterly I managed a NHS Staff Counselling, Supervision and Coaching Service for an NHS Foundation Trust.
I have been in private practice since 2002. People have come to me through a variety of sources including Occupational Health Referral Schemes in Organisations, referred via a G.P, or through personal recommendation.
Prior to Psychotherapy training I was an Organisation Development Consultant, a Human Resources Manager, a Training Manager and a Coach, predominantly in the public sector. In the last thirty years I have gained experience in:
- Change Management
- Investigation and Inspection Roles
- Management Development
- Personal Development
I have worked with a wide range of people from front line services through to board level in many work areas, including working in political arenas both in Local government and in liaison with central government.
One example of my work includes leading a Stress Audit, in conjunction with a Northern University, for 10,000 employees which led to a whole raft of organisational changes for which I was personally responsible, including key performance targets for Directors, work with Occupational Health, Health Promotion, researching and managing a Workplace Counselling Service. This involved implementing many new services across a large Local Authority.
The breadth of my work includes recent change management projects and investigations in the NHS and implementing procedures arising from child protection work. Mentoring Head teachers in the education sector. Working as an independent Coach in a company commissioning work in the NHS and lastly, my early origins are in Social Services Management and prior to th at in Private Sector Management in the Financial Sector.
I now only work in private practice and my passion is to work with charities and notfor-profit organisations. I enjoy working with equity, equality and promoting fair treatment for all policies, procedures and actions in organisations. I wish to balance my work with individuals in therapy, supervision and coaching with work in the voluntary sector, the NHS and public organisations.
